Morning darklings,
Today is my sister’s birthday!
So before we jump into the mood board, I’m going to praise her existence.
Oh, and a quick (also final) reminder about Art Born Words. The Kickstarter has officially funded and then some. This is a short run book—meaning that the only plans are to sell it on Kickstarter. Should there be demand, that may change. But as it stands now, and more than likely, it will be Kickstarter or not at all. To be honest, as I am with you all, I’m trying to get at least a paperback version just… available. I can’t promise it, though. So I’d say go get it on Kickstarter if you can. If you can’t, know that I’ll keep you updated along the way as to what happens with it!
and now, praise be my sister
My sister is a magical person. Here are three-ish reasons why:
She claims she’s the reason I’m alive today. The family lore is my parents were contemplating me, but she asked for me while they were in decision mode. Thus, she claims it. She also claims to know everything and be the inventor of a lot of things I’m almost certain can’t be true, but we also go with it. — All hail, Jennifer, as we say.
If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be into art. It was her who taught me how to make jewelry and her who got me into sand art and spinny paint things and fancy pens and friendship bracelets. In fact, one of our first crafts together was a flat rock with an E on one side and a J on another so we could flip it when we had to decide who got what (good, bad, or indifferent). She and I still craft together even now, over the interwebs.
Her vocabulary is stellar. Sure, she knows the big words and uses them. Blah, blah, blah. It’s the words she makes up that are the best. I can’t share them or you’ll steal them. Trust and believe, you would. They are that good. But if a word can be twisted and made better, she’ll do it.
What I’m saying is that she is cooler than most of us, which is totally fine.
questions of the week
Are you doing anything for Halloween this year?
PSL or no PSL?
If you were a fall activity, what would you be?
my answers of the week
I’m hopefully going to the beach to look for glass orbs, but if it’s too cold or I’m ill, then I’ll just watch spooky movies!
Homemade PSL 1000%. Starbucks? Pshht. They have great cheese danishes and not much else.
Food picking—apple or pumpkin. It’s cozy, but can also be fun, sweet, romantic, hilarious, or spooky, depending on the time of day and who you’re with. I love that. Versatile and never the same experience! Like me and my life and writing and whims. One never knows what they’ll get. Sure, you’ll get me, but in what mood, what vibe, what genre, what level of energy… even I don’t know yet.
Until next time.
Happy birthday and all hail Jennifer!
My answers:
1. Yes.
2. Just like cookies, PSL is a sometimes food.
3. Making piles of leaves to jump/ fall into. I hated that raking the entire yard was a family activity (sometimes 2-3x a year) as a kid (they were no fun), but the payoff afterwards of jumping into a pile was something to always had to look forward to. Sticks, pine cones and all!
Now I don't subject myself to the pokage. Instead, remember and cherish the moment of joy as you're falling through the air into the soon-to-be satisfying crunch of leaves!
All hail Jennifer! That could get catchy, are you sure she's not an incognito goddess?
